This is going to be short and sweet because I don't have much time.  I lost 1.6 pounds this week. I feel like I did a good job on staying on track with my eating and making good choices.  My workouts this week were a Zumba class, BodyJam class, and a BodyCombat class.

My goals for the coming week are to focus on portion sizes and to work out at least 5 times.

So this week I maintained. I guess that is better than gaining but not nearly good as as losing! The good news is I know why I maintained and the bad news is that I made choices that caused me to maintain. I tail gated this weekend and with that came tailgating food and drinking a few beers. I will not be repeating that every weekend for sure!

Also I have had some minor health problems come up in the last few weeks that have been stressing me out and I have always been a stress eater. It's really not an excuse because there will always be something that causes stress. I worked out 4 times this week my workouts were BodyJam, BodyCombat, and 2 hikes/ power walks.

I am thinking of trying Bikram Yoga in the next few weeks with my friend Mrs. Acorn.  The idea of it kind of scares me though and seems intense. 90 minutes of yoga in a room that is 105 degrees? Hmm I don't know. We'll see.

I lost 2 lbs this week. I really was hoping to lose the 2.8 lbs I gained last week but I'll take 2 lbs any week. I worked out 5 times this week.  My workouts were 2 Zumba classes, a power walk/ hike, BodyCombat class, and BodyJam class.  A big win for me is when I went jean shopping over the weekend and I was able to buy a size smaller than I have been wearing. I am wearing the jeans now since it's dress down Wednesday at work. It feels great to be in a smaller size and be able to breath!  This leads me to believe that I should take measurements again since I haven't in a while.  That is on my to do list for the coming week.

Last Saturday Matt and I spent the morning volunteering at Habitat for Humanity. Matt's work is sponsoring a house.  It was a lot of fun. I spent the morning on a pump jack nailing up foam board, getting the house ready for siding.  I worked out my legs pumping that jack up to the 2nd story.  We also put soffit up on the outer ledge of the house that is also to prepare for the siding to go up next week.  I talk about this stuff like I know what it means but I really don't I just went along with what they told me to do.

Matt and I will spend a few more Saturdays working on the house before it's scheduled to be complete in November.  The house is for a single mom and her 3 children (and a 4th one is due in the next few weeks).  I learned more about Habitat; that the familes pay for their house like anyone else but they are provided an interest free mortgage from Habitat.  Also instead of paying a down payment they are required to contribute 250 sweat equity hours.  Sweat equity hours means they are required to put a specific amount of hours into working on their home or other Habitat homes.  So on Saturday I worked along side around 6 men and women who were putting time towards their own sweat equity hours. It was a great experience and I can't wait to go back.

I am so confused as to why I gained 2.8 lbs.  As of yesterday morning I had lost 1 pound for the week then this morning I get on the scale and I have gained 2.8 lbs. This means that from yesterday to today I gained 3.8 lbs! Yesterday was a normal eating day within my points and I worked out. Maybe I am holding a lot of water? I am trying to think if I had more sodium than usual yesterday that would cause me to be retaining water. I did have a lean cuisine at lunch and those can be high in sodium but it still doesn't seem to add up. I don't know what is going on but it's very annoying!

This week my workouts were BodyJam class, a power walk, BodyAttack class, and Zumba. The BodyAttack was a new one for me.  It was kind of a sports conditioning class that combined strength and cardio.  I went to the mall on Monday after the class and I could tell just walking around that my legs got a good workout. This week I am going to be more aware of portion sizes and also making sure to get enough fruits and vegetables in.

World's Best and Easiest Salmon

I have had some salmon from Trader Joes in the freezer that needed to be cooked.  I downloaded an application for my iPhone called SparkRecipes that is pretty much a data base of healthy recipes. I searched for salmon and found the World's Best and Easiest Salmon. What's not to like with best and easy?
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup of pure maple syrup or honey (I used honey)
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 2-3 cloves minced garlic
- 12 ounces fresh or thawed salmon

Directions:
- Combine the honey (or maple syrup), soy sauce, and garlic in a large   ziploc bag.
- Shake the bag to mix it up.
- Put the salmon in for 1 hour in the fridge (flip the bag over half way through)
- Put the fish in a baking pan, pour the sauce over it, cover with foil
- Cook at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until the thickest part is flaky (mine took closer to 25 mins.)
- Makes 4 servings. 1 serving 216 calories and 7 grams of fat which equals 4 WW points.

I obviously need to register for some bake ware for my wedding since all I had to bake this in was a pie dish.  I served the fish with green beans, a baked potato, and white wine.  I was excited to use my new wine charms that JMJE gave me.  Check her charms out at her Etsy site.  She actually also gave me those wine glasses for my birthday which were much needed. We no longer drink wine from regular glasses or even worse a plastic cup.

The finished product I thought was pretty good. The soy sauce and honey balanced each other out so it wasn't too sweet or salty. Matt said I should make it again sometime so I am guessing that means he likes it.  I think it would take a lot for him to not like salmon though. He could eat fish most nights of the week.

This week equals a big blah! I did lose this week but only 0.6 lbs.  I was doing so well with eating and working out and then on Monday I came down with a yucky stomach bug.  There went the 2 additional workouts I had planned and instead I did a lot of sleeping and laying on the couch.  I was hoping that my small appetite would out weigh the lack of workouts the last few days. I am happy that I still lost but I really wanted to see a least a pound gone.  Next week I will just have to lose at least 1.4 pounds to make up for it.

My workouts this week were a BodyJam class and 2 power walks/ hikes with Matt. Thanks Matt for walking with me on the weekends! We have been exploring a lot of trails in the area. Every trail so far as been full of hills which really helps burn more calories.

This coming week I have a few small weddings things to do.  On Saturday I have a crazy busy day with a hair cut, baby shower, football game, and My So Called Life watching reunion with my besties.  I'm excited for football season to start but not as excited for tailgating food.  I am going to have to pack my own food I think.  While everyone else is enjoying their fried chicken I'll have my sandwich on wheat bread.  Who wants a cold beer when instead you can be having a nice ice glass of water? Yummy!
