My First Trip to Feeney's = Success

So one of my besties has been raving about Feeney's Frozen Yogurt Bar all summer long.  I kept planning to go to it when I was in my hometown but it just never worked out.  Since I knew I was going to be in town on Saturday we made plans to have a double date there.  This time I was finally going to get to try Feeney's.  I love ice cream which translates to loving low fat frozen yogurt when I'm eating healthy.

The thing that makes Feeney's different from other yogurt places is that is you serve yourself; picking from 6 different yogurt flavors, and tons of toppings, then you pay by the weight.  It was a little overwhelming and hard not to put every delicious topping on mine but I knew moderation was key.  I had been pre-warned by JMJE that going overboard could result in a stomach ache (and also using way too many WW points).

My frozen yogurt creation contained low fat chocolate yogurt, a little bit of cake batter low fat yogurt (delicious by the way), graham crackers, strawberries, and a few chocolate chips.  I think I showed good self control. I mean the pretzel m&ms, hot fudge sauce, and marshmallow toppings all looked delicious but I held myself back.  I didn't want a stomach ache nor did I want to break the bank with WW points. Overall my trip was a success and it's probably a good thing that Feeney's is an hour away.  Thanks JMJE and B for taking Matt and I to our debut trip to Feeney's.

*Update - I have been informed by JMJE that there are actually 8 flavors at Feeney's to pick from not 6. Sorry Feeney's I should have consulted with your best customer before posting. :)

Fill in the Blank Friday

TGIF! Now time for some Fill in the Blank Friday...

1.  The most adventurous thing I've ever done is    went spelunking and spent the night in a cave with my girl scout troop. Some of the places we had to squeeze and roll through was so little and there were people behind me and in front of me. Now just thinking about it makes me claustrophobic.

2.  If I were a pair of shoes I  would be  a pair of comfortable flats. Maybe a Naturalizer? No I'm not an old lady but I'm all about comfort and practicality.

3.  My preferred mode of digital communication is    e-mail or g-mail chat. G-mail triple chats if I really want to spice it up.

4.  I feel happiest when I am surrounded by my family, friends, and fiance (triple Fs baby!).

5.  A little dream I have for my life is    to lose weight and be healthy and fit! Duh that was easy.

6.  The one modern convenience I could NOT do without is   my iphone or a cell phone in general. How did I function ever without one?

7.  Music, movies, TV or books:  if I could only choose one to enjoy I would pick  that's a really hard pick between TV and books. I guess if I had to pick though TV would be it. I love reading but sometimes it just makes me really sleepy.

This week I lost 1.4 lbs again! :)  I worked out 4 times this week.  My workouts were 2 Zumba classes, a power walk/ hike with Matt, and then on Sunday I did a Wii EA Active sports workout, a core workout (taped off of Fit TV), and a 2 mile hike to go swimming at a rock quarry.

It has been nice to have a few weekends in a row that I have not been going out of town.  I have really been able to focus more and get my act in gear.  I do need to learn to be able to travel and still lose weight though. Next time I go out of town will be in the middle of October when I go to Florida with Matt to go to a Gator's football game with him.  I am going to do a lot of planning ahead to make that weekend a success.  I can bring healthy snacks and look up restaurants ahead of time to make good choices.

This coming weekend I am going wedding dress shopping with my mom and sister.  Then Saturday night we have a big birthday extraveganza in my hometown to celebrate 5 birthdays!

This is going to be a quick blog because work wore me out and the last thing I want to be doing tonight is to stare at my computer screen.  This week I lost 1.4 lbs and worked out 5 times.  My workouts this week were BodyJam class, 2 Zumba classes, BodyCombat class, BodyFlow class (combination of Yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi), and a hike at a state park with Matt.  I know that I just listed 6 things but I am counting the BodyFlow and hike that I did both on Sunday as 1 workout.  I don't feel like I burned enough calories to say I got 2 full workouts in.

Sunday was the first time I went to BodyFlow and overall I liked the class.  I prefer a workout where I get more cardio but this class seems like it will be good for some strength exercise and also good for stretching and improving flexibility.

I am really enjoying my new gym and the classes they have.  Most of their classes are Les Mills classes which I had never done before I joined this gym.  The routines stay the same for a while and then every once in a while they have a new launch where they change the routines up.  I like it because it makes it easier to learn the moves and get a better workout.

No big surprise here that I gained this week.  Over the weekend I did not stay on track and I only worked out 3 times this week.  My workouts were a CardioJam class, Yoga/Core workout, and a Step Class.  Yes I decided to try step again on Monday.  It was a different step class though then the other one I took.  It was much better! There was more repetition of the moves so it was easier to keep up with. Also there wasn't an 80 year old man who asked me if I was keeping up okay.

What I have learned is that I completely suck at staying on track when I'm out of town.  Luckily I do not have anymore trips planned until October.  I just need to get it in my head that just because I'm on vacation I can't eat whatever I want. I need to treat it like I'm at home. Oh Team McRosen also came in dead last place overall at the 2010 OIB Olympics.  I really think it takes a lot of effort to be able to pull last place off.  We had a great time so that's what really matters. Thanks Team Jellisen for hosting us!

TGIF - 2010 OIB Olympics Weekend

The work week is finally coming to an end. And for me it will come 4 hours earlier than usual.  That's because I'm taking a half day to head down to the beach.  The Jellisen's kindly invited BAJJ plus their husband/ fiance/ boyfriend to come alone for the weekend.

Last summer's trip included the 1st Annual OIB Olympics. The Bull City Bombers took on the Greensboro Team (I can't remember their name) in some heated matches of bocce ball, ladder ball, corn hole, and flip cup.  Things got a little intense at times.  It didn't help that we had a few people who got very competitive.  I won't name any names but they know who they are.  No surprise in that my team The Bull City Bombers won the Olympics with a tie breaker game of Flip Cup.

This year we are playing on teams of couples the Acorns, Jellisens, McRosens, and Team Ernie will be competing against each other.  This years competition is promised to be more light hearted and fun vs. competitive.  There will be team uniforms involved and a prize for the winners.    If for some reason we need an unbiased judge then we  have MoYoung ready and on call.  Sure she's in Vegas but we can talk to her and send photo evidence to her if need be. I'm really hoping that this year's celebrity guest Hobie has a routine ready to wow us for the opening ceremonies of the game.

Last year during OIB Beach Olympics Team Greensboro has a meeting before the games begin.

So every week when I put my weight into WeightWatchers.com it says I have lost 18 lbs more than what I put on here.  This is because I have been using Weight Watchers online tools since the first time I started Weight Watchers in September of 2009.  From September of 2008 to July of 2009 I lost a total of 42.2 lbs! Then from July 2009 to when I started this blog in February I gained back 24.2 lbs. I was so disappointed that I let myself gain back what I had worked so hard to lose.  I am glad that I did not gain back all 42 lbs and maintained 18 lbs.

I decided I wanted to add my change from my original start on to here. Even though I have lost 31.4 lbs from the beginning of my weight lose journey sometimes it doesn't feel like since it's been a stop and go process.  I feel like I should give myself the credit for the full amount lost.  Also this will make my weigh in chart here consistent with what is online on Weight Watchers. With that said I also still wanted to be able to see what I have lost just from when I started my efforts over again with this blog.  For this reason you will now see 2 columns one that shows my total lost from my  new start and one that shows the total lost from the beginning.

So this week I lost 0.8 lbs.  This morning my scale was acting a little crazy and it went in between me loosing 1 lb and 0.8 lbs. I'm recording 0.8 lbs to make sure. Maybe it's time for a new scale? I don't know maybe all scales act a little crazy from time to time. It also could just be the way I was standing on the scale too. Who knows!  I worked out a total of 4 times this week. My workouts were a Cardio Jam class, Zumba, Body Pump class (a group barbell weight class), and a Body Combat class.  This week my goal is to work out 5 times and for at least 2 of those workouts to be running.
